REACH is the Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. It entered into force on 1st June 2007. It streamlines and improves the former legislative framework on chemicals of the European Union (EU).
The main aims of REACH are to ensure a high level of protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, the promotion of alternative test methods, the free circulation of substances on the internal market and enhancing competitiveness and innovation.
REACH makes industry responsible for assessing and managing the risks posed by chemicals and providing appropriate safety information to their users. In parallel, the European Union can take additional measures on highly dangerous substances, where there is a need for complementing action at EU level.
In an effort to address the requirements of the REACH regulation and ensure a reliable ongoing supply of Dutch PET Recycling, we have taken following steps:
- Suppliers have been requested to assess the potential presence of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). The current SVHC are not intentionally added or used within the products we trade.
- Suppliers are testing along the Echa Candidate List of SVHC and other parameters with renowned international certification companies.
- Tüv Rheinland has tested our material along the Echa Candidate List of SVHC, with the outcome that no SVHC was detected. This test will be repeated on a regular basis.
If you require SVHC information for parts purchased from Dutch PET Recycling, please mail to info@dutchpetrecycling.com. Dutch PET Recycling will provide SVHC information on a case-by-case basis.
